With a seemingly "straight face"

The News-Leader's Our Voice column says:

"In the end, this deal on Heer's nets the city $3 million..."

So, what does the city net from the deal? How much have they paid in interest payments on the Heer's loan?

This math is done with a Cumley-Finnie hand held calculator which was not turned on, but will e mail the desired answer to the newspaper...

It sounds like the N-L just wants to put the best spin on a cut and run policy for the tower.

Jason, I agree with you, but to present as fact that the city will NET $3 million? If you'll notice I didn't have much to say about it. I'm speechless.

In answer to anon 11:20's very specific questions, they've paid over $260,000 in interest, and I don't believe that includes attorneys' fees and the cost of negotiating for so long over the Heers deal, not just with McGowan Walsh.... I can't tell you what their net is exactly, I can safely say that they will not net the gross amount McGowan-Walsh is paying.
