The Fight for the 4th District Republican Primary

As a Fair Tax supporter, I have been watching the primary race in the 4th District of Missouri with interest. One of the Republican primary candidates is Jeff Parnell.

Parnell recently performed his original song "Perhaps We Need a Tea Party Again" at the Orlando, Florida FairTax Babe Pancake Breakfast, as announced by Neal Boortz at boortz.com July 21, 2006. View the Slideshow of that event on July 29, 2006 prior to the FairTax Rally. The Rally was attended by between 10,000 to 12,000 people according to the Orlando, Florida Police Dept. :)

I have been told by sources close to the 4th District primary campaign that one of his primary opponents, Alan Conner, wanted to drop out of the race but waited too late to take his name off the ballot so is forced to run for a seat he, evidently, doesn't want. Alan Conner, according to the News-Leader is now being sued by the wife of another Republican primary opponent, Mrs. Janice Noland, wife of primary candidate Jim Noland, claims that Conner made threats to her over the telephone. According to the News-Leader " Janice Noland alleges that businessman Alan Conner called her in mid-July demanding to talk. When she refused and hung up, the lawsuit claims, Conner called back and left a threatening message on her answering machine, saying, "I will bring you down."" Mrs. Noland also "alleges Conner also threatened to sue her and report her to the Missouri Bar." These events prompted Jeff Parnell to issue this response for immediate release:

"While some in Missouri's 4th District Congressional Republican primary
allegedly engage in malicious threats and other bad behaviors, I continue to be
the only candidate actively involved in policy change on a national level, most
notably my work in raising awareness about the Fair Tax."

Last week, I traveled to Orlando, Florida to participate in a Fair Tax
Rally which drew between 10,000 - 12,000 people; I emceed an event and
performed my song Perhaps We Need A Tea Party Again; was recognized on
Neal Boortz' nationwide radio program, and appeared on statewide radio in
Florida. I also made appearances on radio in Springfield and gave numerous
interviews as a result of the event. In short, I am working hard on issues
that I believe will be good for Missouri and America.

When voters in the 4th District go to the polls Tuesday, I hope they will
not be dazzled by Washington D.C. Style Pork-Barrel Campaigning, or vote for any
candidate who cannot control himself or his temper."

I don't know about the 4th District but I am tired of childish politicians who cannot work together reasonably on behalf of their constituents and in the best interest of same. Both Conner and Noland appear unable to even run in a primary contest without resorting to schoolyard antics.

The 4th District of Missouri voters have an opportunity to select a candidate who has actively worked a business in Springfield, MO, Parnell Tire, consecutively while running a clean campaign promoting interest in policy issues which not only would work to better the lives of Missourians but Americans Nationwide. I wholeheartedly endorse Jeff Parnell. I hope after reading this entry those of you in the 4th District will, as well.

In closing, I'll let Jeff speak for himself regarding the Fair Tax Act:

"Perhaps We Need a Tea Party Again"

Lyrics and music by: Jeff Parnell

One night in Boston Harbor, the tea flew overboard.
They said, "We don't owe King George a thing, we answer to our Lord."
They built this land of freedom, but things have changed since then.
Perhaps we need a tea party again.

They passed the 16th amendment, and the income tax was law.
But it punishes achievement, and that's just one of many flaws.
Then along came withholding, we don't know what we pay in.
Perhaps we need a tea party again.

There's a better way to pay the bills, and the Fair Tax is its name.
We can fully fund this government, and end these silly games.
We can save Social Security, and Medicare it's true.
And the Congress needs to hear all this from You.

Career politicians love the power of tax and spend.
And it's time that all of us take a stand and reign them in.
This country is worth saving, and I'm telling you my friends,
"Perhaps we need a tea party again."

There's a better way to pay the bills, and the Fair Tax is its name.
We can fully fund this government, and end these silly games.
We can save Social Security, and Medicare it's true.
But the Congress needs to hear all this from You.

One night in Boston Harbor, the tea flew overboard.
They said, "We don't owe King George a thing, we answer to our Lord."
We built this land of freedom, but much has changed since then.
Perhaps we need a tea party again.

Update on this story: Lake Sun Leader has an article on the law suit brought by Mrs. Janice Noland against Mr. Conner. Here's a quote:

Conner said last week he is the only credible candidate in the primary race. His campaign has raised $343,000, according to The AP, $138,000 of which he spent on a campaign bus to travel around the 25-county district, which includes the Lake of the Ozarks.

Also running in the primary are Jeff Parnell of Rogersville, and the Rev. Lloyd Sanders of Richland.

While some candidates in this primary allegedly engage in malicious threats, I continue to be the only candidate actively involved in policy change on a national level, Parnell said Saturday in an e-mail to the Lake Sun.

“When voters ... go to the polls Tuesday, I hope they will not be dazzled by Washington D.C.-style pork-barrel campaigning, or vote for any candidate who cannot control himself or his temper,” Parnell said.

Dear Defensive,

As I stated, I endorse and support Mr. Parnell.

I'm sure that all three primary candidates have worked very hard on their campaigns, however, I understand that Mr. Conner wanted to drop out of the race but waited too late to do so, this makes me question his sincerity.

As far as Mr. Parnell being "nowhere to be found--no work just camping smearing showing thier true charater" I would assure you that Mr. Parnell has worked very hard on his campaign. If you have evidence and proof that Mr. Parnell has been
"camping(?)" or "smearing" please email me privately and I will follow up on it and if what you say is true will post an entry about it on my blog.

As far as I can tell, Mr. Parnell is a hard working man, who, on nearly any day of the week can be found working at his tire shop.

When the occasion has arisen for Mr. Parnell to make appearances and meet with the people he has taken full advantage of those opportunities. For instance, on April 15th of this year he was in front of the Post Office with fellow FairTax supporters working in the petition drive.

You tell me to stop smearing, when have I? You tell me that I complain because I can not raise money? Ah, in my opinion the American people, as a whole and including Missourians, are getting very tired of those who flash money around on expensive campaigns and are looking for just the sort of man which can be found in a Jeff Parnell. An honest family man who stands on principle and will fight for what is best for his State and therefore America. I'm sure that once Mr. Parnell wins the primary on Tuesday that he will be able to raise all the money he needs, just as he has been able to do thus far, and his work ethic is unquestionably strong.

Politics has been TOO much about money and not enough about issues and causes, it is time for a fresh face, and that face is Jeff Parnell. Mr. Noland has tried to beat Ike Skelton over and over again, he wasn't up to the task in the past, perhaps Jeff Parnell will be.

The only person who can "bring down" your candidate is your candidate himself, and that was an interesting choice of words, by the way, as you know, allegedly Mr. Conner told Mrs. Noland that HE "would bring them down."

I posted Jeff Parnell's released statement on this situation. I would refer you to his released statement and to his web site for further information on his platform.

Mr. Noland, Mr. Conner and Mr. Parnell are all Republican candidates and I am sure they are all working hard on their campaigns.

After the primary on Tuesday there will only be one winner. It may take all three of these men, in unity, to gain the seat that has been occupied by Mr. Skelton for so long. That would be in the best interest of the Republican party and Missouri.

For our Republican primary candidates to give Mr. Skelton fodder to use against them in the general election would be a grievous mistake.

I can assure you a candidate that works hard and spends 200k of his own money never intended to Quit--Alan is not a quiter--but he is a fighter..and Parnell has done nothing in this campaign--he belongs in Nashville not DC
Oh but he could not make it there either i bet
maybe Americian Idiot?
look for evidance your self--call the chairs of the Rep party they will tell you--working in a tire shop does not get you a win for a US Congressional seat--maybe a school boad seat--tell jeff to do that--he has not filed a FEC report--so we know he has raised nor spent money in this race--unless he is breaking FEC law?

People in the 4th district know that Jeff has not worked in this race--he has no campaign
no signs, no media, except to sing
nothig you would expect from a US House race.

Loooks desprite to me--and just crying about his inability to be a raise funds and looks down on people that have worked hard and self made--is this where we are in America-when people that have worked hard and made it we are enveyous of thier sucess?
And i thought Jeff was a Christian
Shame on you--Jeff

WOW leave Jeff alone

i love his songs--keep singing Jeff

We have met Jeff he is a real pompous butt--strutts around and is very arrougant

You keep working hard Alan --we know you are above this Campaign smearing that Noland and Jeff seem to be in cohoots together with
Your hard work and High standards , professional race will win-

Jeff --get a Dunlap and go flat

Some people's jealousy seems to be getting the better of them.

That's okay. Not everyone can be as musically talented as Jeff, and GOOD LOOKIN' TOO!

Jealousy?--looks like your not wanting to see the facts.

And i want to know If Jeff cant campaign ,IE:going to meet the candidate forms, Parades, Fairs,Signs, Mailings, Phone Banks, Media, Lincoln days--where the base is

because he has a business to run--why did he run?
he says that the party asked him to run--ask Doug Russell XO of the party --he will tell you this is not true. Looks like arogant pride wanting to just boost his singing career?--"pride cometh before distruction and a haughty haert before a fall"

Seems like these three candidates hurt the party more than doing us a favor---get a life study the facts call around ask the people that are in the know---you will find out ALAN CONNER has done a great job--he is a great example of what people are really looking for in a candidate--i have watched him and his wife they always conduct them selves in a professional way and nevr has disparaged the other candidates at all not one time.
He is a professional--and has had a very acomplished career--so maybe the true jealousy comes from these other candidates that think that just paying 100 dollars to get thier name on the ballot will be all that it takes.

I have asked Alan about "droping out" NEVER Happened he has always worked hard veryday and has kept his eye on the ball--so please do not SPEAD THAT LIE anymore--you loose credability.

Obviously, Alan here is a bit jealous, posting here, that is. It has been stated that he can't stand to be in the same room as Jeff. What's that all about? It may be a contest between candidates, but they are all Republicans. What happened to party togetherness? ---Oh...I forgot. Alan is a jerk.

Spending 200k doesn't qualify him to be a congressman. It just means he was willing to spend too much for a campaign that is ONLY A PRIMARY! Signs really do no good, and if you check around, you can see Jeff has a few up.

Personally, I would rather see Ike Skelton in office than Alan Conner. Alan would fit in too well with the money grubbing, vote buying people we already have up there.

Good luck Jeff!

Alan, I pray that you will come to realize that being Christian involves more than spending money, saying "I'm a Christian," and being against abortion.

DON'T Ride the Conner (short?)bus.

All in all the candidates have all worked hard, and may the people's choice win!

i know for sure that allen is a true hard working christian man who cares for the people
