She should go to Broadway. I can see her in Les Miserables (my favorite musical). I betcha she could belt out the inn keeper's wife and dazzle them all. (Inn Keeper's wife is my favorite song.)
Why is everyone so amazed? Because no one thought an ugly girl could be something. Same goes for fat folks sometimes. Singing/acting/etc is not just for the young, pretty or skinny. Uglies and fatties can work wonders, too.

My step-mom once told me, when I was still a little girl, that I was always fighting for "the under dog." Hmmm. There might be something to that. At any rate, I'm inspired by stories like this one.

Great deal. I like how the crowd turns from skeptical to cheering so quickly. Many Americans would have had all kinds of bad things to say about her if she hadn't just surprised everyone with her amazing singing talent.
People try to project their standards on to others. We have to remember that there can be a surprising number of things to learn from those we discount.
I am waiting for her Christmas album/cd.
Have you heard Cry Me A River she recorded in 1999 (I think)for charity? Very different from the Julie London classic but Susan's clear tones and sweet sounds make it her own.

Yes, but only after you reminded me it was on YouTube. I had seen it and meant to go back and listen to it but hadn't.
